The Fauquier chapter of the NAACP is thrilled to announce the much-anticipated 68th Annual Freedom Fund Celebration, a celebration that stands as a testament to unity, equity, and progress in our community. This year's event offers a unique hybrid experience, giving attendees the freedom to choose between in-person attendance or joining online from the comfort of their own homes.

Event Details:

Date: October 29, 2023

Time: 3:30pm - 5:30pm

Location: Laurel Ridge Community College | Barman Conference Center | 6480 College St., Warrenton, VA

The Freedom Fund Celebration has been a cherished tradition, fostering meaningful conversations and collective action to uphold justice, equality, and service. This year's celebration promises an inspiring lineup of activities and speakers. We are honored to welcome our esteemed keynote speaker, Dr. Sharnnia Artis, Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion & Chief Diversity Officer with George Mason University. Dr. Artis's insights into fostering diversity and inclusivity will undoubtedly resonate with all attendees. Adding to the evening's vibrancy is a special musical performance by Mike Parker, a Fauquier County native, Country Music Artist, and former American Idol Top 10 contestant. His talent promises to set the stage for a truly celebratory atmosphere.

The event's highlight will be the unveiling of the recipient of the Fauquier NAACP's 3rd Annual Distinguished Citizen Service Award. This prestigious award honors an individual who has exemplified justice, equality, and service in our community, making remarkable contributions. By participating in the 68th Annual Freedom Fund Celebration, attendees will directly contribute to the crucial initiatives of the Fauquier NAACP. Contributions will support scholarship programs for deserving students, public health forums, assistance to those impacted by the pandemic, and advocacy for essential policy changes that promote a more just and equitable society. "This celebration is a testament to the strength of our community when we come together with a shared vision," said Conway Porter, President of Fauquier NAACP. "We invite everyone to join us, whether in person or virtually, to make a positive impact on our community's future."
